SOPO exerts influence on decisions and definition of guidance policy at an international level through the global organisation International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG).
The association cooperates with the Nordic guidance association Nordiska Förening för Studie– och yrkesvägledning (NFSY) by participating in its board activities.
The international committee of SOPO is responsible for the preparation of international affairs.
